Storyteller for Hire
I’m a freelance journalist based in the Pennsylvanian foothills of Appalachia. I write about the science, economics, and peculiarities of being human. My work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Sierra, National Geographic, Harper’s Bazaar, Slate, Saveur, BBC, Popular Science, Popular Mechanics, and many other publications.
Recent work tells the long and hopeful story of the American Chestnut, the timeless tale of a small-town amusement park, examinations of what people are buying (maps, flip phones, mushroom growing kits!) and an ode to toads.
